Hygieneverhalten<\/p>\n

Befallene Arbeiterinnenbrut wird in der Regel von den Bienen der \u00f6stlichen Honigbiene erkannt und entfernt. Dazu \u00f6ffnen die Arbeiterinnen die Brutzellen und fressen die Brut samt aller Milbenstadien aus.<\/p>\n

Drohnenbrutzellen hingegen, die von mehreren Milben gleichzeitig befallen sind, werden nicht ge\u00f6ffnet. Diese Brutzellen bleiben verschlossen, manche sprechen von \u201eeinsargen\u201c. Drohnen, die als Puppe mehrfach infiziert sind, schaffen es in der Regel nicht, die Zelle zu entdeckeln, und gehen mit den Milbennachwuchs zugrunde. Durch dieses Verhalten soll der Milbenbefall um etwa 20 % reduziert werden.<\/p>\n

Varroamilben auf den Arbeiterinnen der \u00f6stlichen Honigbiene werden durch gegenseitiges Putzen entfernt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

.2. Brood Development<\/p>\n

A. cerana development is very similar to that of other Apis species in general, and that of A. mellifera in particular. A. cerana brood development is slightly faster than that of A. mellifera, except for A. cerana queens (Table 1) [15,82]. However, it seems unlikely that this slight difference will affect competition or invasiveness.
